The Loggerheads Pub, Shrewsbury (Marstons Brewery)

The Loggerheads pub is a listed building thought to date from the 17th century. The external wall on the front elevation had become detached from the internal walls and was in danger of falling down. We secured the front wall with a series of resin anchor ties, a system proven to be the most cost effective method plus enabling more of the existing structure to be retained and remain undisturbed. This system is a versatile method of structural reinforcement and is designed to meet specific strengthening and repair requirements for historical buildings and resolves the technical challenges of structural preservation, whilst remaining sensitive to the original architecture.

Refurbishment:

During recent and previous alterations, materials had been used which were not in keeping with the period of the property. Where possible, we replaced these materials with traditional materials more in keeping with the period of the pub and which were to the conservation officer’s approval.
